Thoubal, January 19 2024: Thoubal District Bar Association president, Khangembam Arunkumar has strongly denounced the alleged entry of security personnel in Thoubal Court complex without prior permission and their inappropriate behaviour towards the advocates and court staff yesterday.

Addressing media persons during a press meet held today in connection with yesterday's incident at the office of the association in Thoubal Court complex, Arunkumar alleged that, 'No prior approval was taken from the Court authority by Additional SP (SO) Thoubal N Suraj, Thoubal OC Kh Phullachand and BSF personnel before entering the Court complex yesterday' .

'Apart from entering the Court complex without prior approval, they behaved unprofessionally with the advocates and staff of the Court which is uncalled for', he said.

He further refuted the allegation that gunshots were fired from the top of the Court building during the incident which took place on the night of January 17 in Thoubal since the Court complex is guarded by tight security with gates closed at night.

'A letter will be sent to the District and Sessions Judge Thoubal and Manipur High Court Registrar General to apprise them of the unfortunate incident which took place at the Court complex', he said.

Arunkumar further asserted that Thoubal District Bar Association will not accept the proposed plan to station BSF personnel in Thoubal District Court complex.

He also appealed to the relevant authorities to take up befitting legal actions against the above police personnel for entering the court complex without permission and showing unprofessional behaviour.
