2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament : PTCC cap Group A campaign with 7 wins on trot, KCC keep semi-final hopes alive

PTCC became the outright Group A winners and qualified for the semi-finals of the 2nd MNCA Superplate Tournament with a 46 run win over TCMDC-Thongju for the seventh straight win at Khangabok Part III Cherapur Public Ground yesterday.
PTCC summed up a competitive total of 250 runs for 9 wickets in allotted 40 overs and restricted TCMDC to 204 runs for 9 in the chase.
PTCC got off to a positive start and saw the most significant partnership between Hijam Hemachandra (45) and Yambem Kaikuyamba (25) who forged 71 runs together for the fifth wicket after Andyroshan's 59-ball 40 and Sohail Akram's 35 .

S Mangsatabam Veekash (21 not out) and Shapam Kenjit (24 off 14 balls) also contributed in PTCC's innings which witnessed Suraj Kharibam of TCMDC claiming 3 wickets for 39 runs and Huirongbam Babulu and Rain Urikhinbam notching up two wickets apiece.
In reply, Ashokumar Maibam (56 off 75 balls) gave TCMDC a slow but competitive start but his removal by Paonam Champion for the second wicket in the 1st delivery of the 22nd over at 103 marked the turning point for the team as Champion went on to remove S Priyobarta and L Vivekananda on ducks to reduce them to 103 for 4 in 21.5 overs.
TCMDC further slipped to 136 for 8 in 31.4 overs with Champion trapping N Arbin lbw to collect his fourth scalp in the innings.
Suraj Kharibam led a late fightback with a 26-ball 47 (3 fours and 5 sixes) but it failed to reduce the required run rate.
Paonam Champion returned with the best bowling figures of 4/47 in 7 overs of the innings as Amom Samuel finished with 2/40 in 8 overs.
Sohail Akram who picked a wicket and scored 35 runs for PTCC was adjudged man of the match.
Elsewhere at Kongba Khunou Dhobi Lampak, KCC overwhelmed PCC by 9 wickets for the fifth win in 6 matches and kept their semi-final hopes alive.
PCC gathered 153 runs for 7 in 34 overs riding on Huidrom Dhanashyam's 36 and Ajay Mahto 36 not out but KCC chased down the target in 21.4 overs thanks to half centuries from Keisham Mranojit (62 off 64 balls) and Nongmaithem Dijiraj (50 off 54 balls) .
In PCC's innings, Wahengbam Somorjit and Hijam Boba shared two wickets each to slow down the strike rate while three others picked a wicket apiece.
K Mranojit who topscored for KCC, was named man of the match.
