ADAM, MACDA observe World Earth Day

As done across the globe, Alliance for Development Alternative Manipur (ADAM), Kakching observed World Earth Day along with launching a five-month "Yes SHE" (Yes Sundays and Holidays for Environment) campaign at Angaan Ching Eco Park, in Kakching district, on Saturday.
The event, which was co-sponsored by directorate of Environment and Climate Change and Manipur Pollution Control Board with M/s Ksh Deikul Singh, CRED-Imphal, Imphal College, Kakching Motors, Lamkhai Brick Field and Kangleipak Voluntary Organisation for Rural Development as collaborators, was attended by over 200 people.
Tree saplings were also planted along with showcasing the play "Angaan Ching Gi Masaikolda" of Liberty Theatre.
Speaking at the observance function as chief guest, health secretary project director MSACS Haobam Rosita pointed out the need to replicate the memorial tree plantation and tree adaptation programme and the Sunday Eco Club activities of Kakching in other parts of the state.
Presided over by ADAM president Dilip Kshetriya, the programme was also attended by Directorate of Environment and Climate Change joint director Dr T Brajakumar, Thangjam Agro Industries Pvt Ltd and Likla managing director Th Joykumar, Image TV Kakching editor in chief (Image Paodam) Uttamkumar Naorem aind second oldest person in Kakching namely Kshetrimayum Manggal (Mangal) Singh as guests of honour.
Chief Minister's Green Manipur Mission Brand Ambassador Valentina Elangbam was also present as special invitee.
Modern Agricultural and Community Development Association (MACDA) also observed World Earth Day under the theme "Invest in our planet" at its Heirangoithong office premises.
According to an MACDA release, the programme was attended by Thokchom Ranbir and Nameirakpam Nabachandra as the presidium members while Dr N Binabon and Dr S Raghumani deliberated the theme of the observance after which a cleanliness drive was conducted to mark the end of the programme.
