₹10 lakh in student's account: Shyamkumar

Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar has revealed that he is in consideration of a policy to ensure a minimum of Rs 10 lakh in the bank account of each and every student of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Imphal East upon completion of class 12.He made the revelation while attending a mega health camp held at the school campus on Saturday.
School authority in association with medical directorate and CMO Imphal East jointly organised the mega health camp, during which students were screened for different types of health conditions including speech and hearing problems, dental problems, general medical check-up, skin diseases and gynaecology related issues.
Medicines were also provided free of cost to the students.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Shyamkumar informed that more than 300 orphan students are studying in the school and they are being provided training on extra-curricular activities apart from academic education.
Besides, the students are trained for different sports such as basketball, volleyball, football and individual events with the aim to produce promising players at the state, national and international levels.
Efforts are also on to set up a music band of the school students.
Unlike in other schools, students of the school are also provided training on gardening, piggery and poultry farming from class 6 onwards, he said.
As a result of such activities, a minimum of Rs 1 lakh is deposited in the bank account of each student every year so that they could make a living from their earning after completing 10+2, he said.
The MLA also appealed to the public to buy products made by the students, which include tree saplings nurture by the students at the school's nursery farm.
