MANIFA 2023: 'Akangba Nachom' wins Best Feature Film

The 11th Manipuri Film Awards (MANIFA) 2023 jointly organised by Thouna Manipur and Film Forum Manipur (FFM) was held at Kakching Dramatic Union auditorium, Kakching Phoushupat Leikai on Sunday with 'Akangba Nachom', produced by Rishi Thokchom and directed by Inaocha Khundrakpam winning the Best Feature Film Award.
The awards function was attended by Health and Family Welfare minister Dr Sapam Ranjan as chief guest, while FFM chairman Laimayum Surjakanta Sharma and Thouna president & 11th MANIFA 2023 festival director Yengkhom Nilachandra were present as presidium members.
The Awards sponsored by various individuals, organisations and firms were awarded in categories of Best Actor in Supporting Role (Female/Male), Costume, Make-up, Child Artiste, Lyricist, Playback Singer (Female/Male), Music Director, Background Score, Audiography, Choreography, Art Director, Cinematography, Editing, Screenplay, Script/Story, Special Jury Award, Special Mention Award, Actor in Negative Role, Director, Actor in Leading Role (Female/Male) and Best Manipuri Feature Film.
Maipak Sanahal Manipuri Jagoi/Eeshei Lifetime Mana 2023, Neta Irawat Leelaroi Lifetime Mana-2023 (Shumang Leela) and Neta Irawat Leelaroi Lifetime Mana-2023 (Manipuri Cinema) were also presented at the programme.
Maipak Sanahal Manipuri Jagoi Lifetime Mana 2023 carrying Rs 10,000 in cash, citation and shawl was awarded to Nameirakpam Manglembabu of Chingmeirong Khongnangkarak.
Neta Irawat Leelaroi Lifetime Mana-2023 (Shumang Leela) & (Manipuri Cinema), which included Rs 10,000 in cash, citation and shawl each were given to Thingnam Biramangol of Kakching Khunyai Leikai and Chandam Shyamacharan of Nongmeibung respectively.
The awards for Best Supporting Actor (Female) was won by E Abenao ('Nangbu Ngairatnbane'), Supporting Actor (Male) by Ch Rames-chandra alias Idhou ('Awaiba Mapu'), Costume Designer by Bimol Taorem ('Eigi Nupi Tamnalai'), Make-up by Priya Devi ('Mityengee Wangmadashu'), Best Child Artiste by Lamnganbi Laishram ('Ashengba Eral'), Lyricist by Ojitbabu Ningthoujam for the song 'Umangna Eikhoigi Thawaini' ('Eigi Nupi Tamnalai'), Playback Singer (Female) by Push-parani for the song Maral Leitaba Pirangshe' ('Akangba Nachom'), Playback Singer (Male) by Sorri Senjam for the song 'Pamjaruba Thamoigi....' ('Taxi Da Thoibi'), Music Director by Rahul Blue ('Eigi Nupi Tamnalai'), Background Score by Tenao HD ('Khullaksha'), Audiography by Bali Ningthoujam ('Awaiba Mapu'), Choreography by Babycha Salam ('Eigi Nupi Tamnalai'), Art Director by Ady Yengkokpam ('Akangba Nachom'), Cinematography by Tommy Hodam & Sushil Sinkap ('Akangba Nachom'), Editing by Mohendro KAMS ('Ashengba Eral'), Screenplay by Binoranjan Oinam Akangba Nachom') and Best Story by Ojitbabu Ningthoujam ('Eigi Nupi Tamnalai').
Special Jury's Award was presented to Julia Ramror ('Pheichon') and Special Mention Award to Steve Abei Golmei ('Latryan').
Best Actor in Negative Role was awarded to Wangjam Bijentakumar ('Nongmei Paiba Rapist') and Feature Film on Other Dialects of Manipur was won by Tangkhul film 'Ngavei'.
Ithoi Oinam won the Best Actor in Leading Role (Female) for 'Nongmei Paiba Rapist' and Silheiba Ningthoujam picked up the Actor in Leading Role (Male) for 'Akangba Nachom', while the award for Best Direction went to Inaocha Khundrakpam for 'Akangba Nachom' .
