PTCC consolidate top spot as KCC outclass PCC

PTCC continued their peerless form with a 46-run win over TCMDC to move six points clear at the top of Group A standings in the MNCA Superplate Tournament on Saturday (April 22).Efforts by Hijam Hemachandra (45), Andyroshan Mandingbam (40), Sohail Akram (25), Shapam Kenjit (24) and Mangshatabam Veekash (21 not out) helped PTCC post a competitive 250 in their 40 overs.
In the process, the Patsoi squad lost three wickets to Suraj, two each to Babulu and Rain Urikhimbam and one to Vevekananda.
In reply, TCMDC had a promising start courtesy of openers Ashokumar Maibam (50) and Rain (20) before the team suffered a middle order collapse.
Suraj (47), who batted at No 8, revived his side's hope of recovery but his dismissal proved costly as TCMDC fell short in their run chase after making 204/9.Paonam Champion Singh shone with the ball for PTCC claiming four scalps off his seven overs as Amom Samuel did his part with two wickets and Sohail Akram, Shapam Kenjit and Sadananda Okram took one apiece to propel their team to a seventh straight victory.
Sohail Akram was adjudged the man of the match.
PTCC are now well-placed atop the Group A table with 14 points as they go six points clear of KSDO and TCMDC who are level on eight points.
In the day's other match, KCC outclassed PCC by nine wickets in their Group B contest.
KCC restricted PCC to 153/7 in 34 overs after the latter chose to bat first.
In their innings, Ajay Mahto was unbeaten on 36 while H Dhanashyam made 36 off 29 balls.
The KCC bowling saw Wahengbam Somorjit and Hijam Boba pick up two wickets each while Yumnam Sheiteendra, Kongbrailatpam Sanjit and Singthoi Nandeibam chipped in with a wicket apiece.
KCC then achieved the target in 21.4 overs for the loss of one wicket.
Keisham Mranojit (62 not out) and Nongmaithem Dijaraj (50 not out) led their side to an emphatic nine-wicket win.
In the process, Mranojit's opening partner Ningombam Tony fell prey to Chingkham Ranjan for 7.Keisham Mranojit claimed the man of the match trophy for his unbeaten 62 .
