Death anniv of Wangkhei Meiraba observed

As done every year, the 132nd death anniversary of Wangkhei Meiraba, who attained martyrdom in the Anglo-Manipuri War-1891, was held at his memorial site located at Manao Ching, Kakching on Sunday.
The commemorative event organised by People's Museum, Kakching under the aegis of Directorate of Social Welfare and Art & Culture Department, was marked by offering of floral tributes to Wangkhei Meiraba and his 20 soldiers.
Floral tributes were also paid to People's Museum founder cum director Mayanglambam Gourachandra, who had protected the memorial site.
Meanwhile, Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipuri War, 1891 Martyrs and Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak (Manipur) along with Major Wangkhei Meiraba Memorial Trust, People s Museum and Leishangthem Amu Me^ morial Trust Kakching also offered rich floral tributes to Wangkhei Meiraba and his 20 soldiers who attained martyrdom in Anglo-Manipuri War.
Justice Committee chair man Ibotombi Khuman, Major Wangkhei Meiraba's grandson W Opendro, Leishangthem Amu's grandson Leishangthem Achouba, Senior Citizens Forum Kakching vice president Pukhrambam Nimai, Kakching Bazar Business Welfare Association president Nongmaithem Sanatomba and Citizens' Club, Soibam Leikai president Naorem Mahendra were also present as presidium members during the function.
