MoU signed for setting up mountaineering institute

Imphal, August 21 2013:
National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports, a Ministry of Defence Institute & Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on providing free land for establishment of the institute at Dirang, in West Kameng District.
According to a statement issued by DK Dinglow, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, the Institute is going to conduct its first basic Mountaineering Course from 26th Aug to 30th Sept'2013.The course will be conducted in general area of Gorichen Peak base camp.
Four candidates sponsored by state department will be attending the course.
The institute will also conduct course on white water rafting, kayaking and skiing in next few months.
The institute will train personnel from India as well as abroad.
The institute Executive Council is headed by A.K.Anthony, Union Defence Minister as President of the Institute with Nabam Tuki, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh as Vice President of the institute.
The Memorandum was signed by D.K.Dinglow, Director, Sports & Youth Affairs on behalf of Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh and Ministry of Defence was represented by Gulshan Chadha, Director, National Institute of Mountaineering & Allied Sports (NIMAS), Dirang, the statement added.
