Imphal, August 21 2013:
The final hearing on the case regarding appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries for Manipur assembly failed to close today.
The court on Wednesday told the petitioner's counsel to submit documents that support the case within two weeks and expressed its willingness to refer the case to the Supreme Court.
Dr Khomdon Singh, a resident of Palace Compound, Imphal filed the petition challenging Manipur Government in the Gauhati High Court of Imphal Bench over the appointment of five Parliamentary Secretaries in the state assembly on October 6, 2012, stating that it was unconstitutional.
The final hearing of the case was held on Wednesday but failed to close as the court demanded supportive documents for the case giving the counsel two weeks time.
The court further said that such cases had been witnessed in the states of Nagaland and Assam in the past and they were referred to Supreme Court.
It said it would be a right step to transfer this case to the apex court.
However, the counsel requested the court to cancel the move and pleaded for two weeks time to submit the related documents before it.
The court accepted the request.
