Stir against drugs smuggling

The Students' League, Manipur under the aegis of Manipur People Struggle Committee (MPSC) has organised sit-in protests at various schools during the past few weeks demanding fitting punishment to drug smugglers, including Col Ajay Chowdhry who were arrested at Pallel early this year.
In the light of the indifferent attitude of the Govt to the demand, the Students' League, Manipur has organised a meeting of school students at Lamlai HS Hall on August 20 with the banner, 'Down Down Drug Smuggling Indian Army' .
The meeting was attended by around 1000 students from Eternal Spring English School, Sekta; Bright Career Academy, Lamlai; Central School, Challou; Yourbung HS and Lamlai HS, Pungdongbam.

A 50-member committee was constituted during the meeting, said a press release.
Further another meeting was held with the participation of around 1500 students of UGC School, Awang Khunou; Gokulchand HS, Konthoujam Lamkhai; Brighter Academy; SK Ideal School, Ngairangbam; Devine Life School, Khumbong at Devine Life School.
The meeting was addressed by office bearers of MPSC like W Priyokumar, L Gojen, L Premila Leima and organising secy of SLM.
Later, the 50-member committee formed during the meeting has decided to launch severe form of agitation in collaboration with the people of the State if the Govt fails to give fitting punishment to drug smugglers, the statement added.
