Imphal, August 21 2013:
Observing that most of other States have increased the upper age limit of civil service exam from 35 to 40 years and even to 45 years in Rajasthan, Pukhrambam Somojit Singh, National Youth Awardee and North East Co-incharge Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has urged to increase the upper age limit of MCS exam of Manipur to at least 38 years for General candidates as other States do.
A press release issued by the North East Co-incharge said, Manipur Public Service Commission has notified that further age relaxation for MCS Exam 2013 is upto 35 years for general and 38 (35+3) years for OBC candidates.
The age relaxation of OBC candidates of most other States is 5 years and so it should be increased for OBC candidates in Manipur to 5 years from the present 3 years.
Government of Manipur should also relax the upper age limit for Govt servants like other States do.
"Considering the unemployment problems in Manipur and remote chances of developing and establishing factories and industries due to hilly and terrain nature of the State, insurgency issues in north east, irregular recruitment of MPSC and the object to select the best candidates, it would be reasonable to have a wide field of choice so that some of the aspiring aged barred candidates must be allowed to appear the coming MCS exam by increasing the age limit to 38 years", the release quoted Somojit Singh as saying.
"So, necessary actions must be taken up by the concern authority at an early date" .
