Quarters built under RMSA in pathetic states

The staff quarters of Motbung Govern-ment High School constructed by Engineering Cell of Education (S) Department with the funds from Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) are not in good shape.
During an inspection drive conducted by Thadou Students' Association, Sadar Hills (TSA-SH), three staff quarters were found abandoned incomplete.
According to school Headmaster SL Tongkholal, the quarters were constructed without any foundation.
Classrooms for class IX and X have not only been left incomplete but also its floors were found damaged and sunk before inauguration.
Although, the school has been listed as an examination centre for class X by Board of Secondary Education Manipur, the school does not hold examinations due to lack of proper fencing.
As such, Board examinations were conducted at Presidency College, the Headmaster said.

Having 348 students and 34 teachers, the school indicates good teacher-student ratio.
However, the school does not have teachers for Meetei Mayek, Geography and Thadou-Kuki subjects, The Headmaster said.
Regarding school infrastructure, SL Tongkholel said, the school does not have any computer set although the authority concerned has been assuring him to provide ten computer sets since past two years.
Even if the computer sets are provided, there is still no room to keep it, he added.
Later, the team inspected Keithelmanbi Government High School.
The school, which has 354 students of class I to X, has very good infrastructure.
According to school authority, extra classes were held every year to have good results in Board exams.
Headmaster Thangkhosin said that all the five computer sets provided by NEC are not working.
The school does not have auditorium, girls' hostel, library and proper fencing, he said.
Midday meal was found fed properly to children at both Motbung Government High School and Keithelmani Government High School.
Speaking to reporters after the inspection tour, TSA Sadar Hills President SL Seipu urged the Government to look into the needs of the two schools at the earliest.
