Imphal, August 21 2013:
Framing of Rules of Manipur Reservation of vacancies in Post and Service for SC/ST Act 2007, regularisation of Adhoc employees and Contact teachers, matters pertaining to IGNTU and devolving power to Additional Director (Hills) of the Education (S) dept are the points discussed during the meeting held by All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) at Hotel Imphal today.
Addressing media persons after the meeting, ATSUM president Emboi Serto registered strong objection to the 200 point roster which came into effect following an office memorandum of DP&AR on Nov 11, 2009 .
Taking advantage of the 200 point roster, the department concerned manipulated the number of vacancies by making piecemeal appointments of 2 to 3 posts thereby denying the tribals of their quota, Emboi Serto alleged.
He also urged the authority concerned to regularise contract basis teachers.
Meanwhile, the ATSUM has also inducted four executive members and seven advisory board members.
The newly inducted executive members included Joseph R Hmar (Spokesperson), G Gaisingam (Social and Culture secy), Lamkhogen Vaiphei (Asst general secretary) and GH Newmeh (Organising secretary) .
The advisory board members included Dr Donald Kosa, Dr John Pulamte, Thomas Taishya, Samson Remai, W Shinglai, Apao Haokip and Haopu Khongsai.
