NAPSA off to flying start in MNCA Plate Tournament opener

NAPSA (Kha Imphal) got their campaign off to a rousing start with a 68-run victory against THAU (Thangmeiband) in the opening match of the 7th MNCA Plate Tournament at Oriental College Ground on Sunday.
NAPSA opted to bat and were all out for 168 in 34.3 overs as Laishram Electronic Singh (37), Premananda Ahongshangbam (32), Bijaykaran Yumnam (27) and Sengtung (10) emerged as their main run getters in the innings.
Despite their mediocre batting performance, the Kha Imphal side successfully defended their total, thanks to their brilliant bowling display.
NAPSA took 27.5 overs to skittle out THAU for 100, leaving the Thangmeiband side well short of the target.
Albert Sorokhaibam led the attack racking up three wickets, Nepram Richet Singh and Laishram Electronic Singh did their bit with two scalps apiece, and Tongbram Dhanakuber Singh and Bipin Singh Ningthoujam took one wicket each to propel their team to a comprehensive 68-run win.
Sagolsem Santoshkumar Singh (20), Hijam Anilkumar Singh (16) and N Smash (13) were the only batters who got into double figures in THAU's run chase.
Earlier, Yumkham Ortega Roy picked up four wickets while N Sirash, Khumukcham Romesh and Rajkumar Thapa claimed two each for THAU.
