NEC sanctions ₹64.64 cr to state in last 3 years

The North Eastern Council (NEC) has so far disbursed Rs 164.64 crore to Manipur in the last three years for different projects under NEC and NERSDS schemes.
The funding includes financial assistance provided to NGOs for promotion of socio-cultural activities.
As per report submitted by DoNER minister G Kishan Reddy, NEC under the aegis of the ministry of DoNER had disbursed Rs 45.13 crore in 2019-20, Rs 22.10 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 97.41 crore in 2021-22 to Manipur.
Total funding in the whole north eastern region in the last three years was Rs 1243.28 crore in 2019-20, Rs 852.52 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 1133.27 crore in 2021-22.NGOs of Manipur getting financial assistance for promotion of socio-cultural activities during the last three years include Ranglong Youth Association'(Rs 8 lakh), Manipur Writers' Forum (Rs 4.80 lakh) and Kanglei Mime Repertory (Rs 7.50 lakh).
A total amount of Rs 201.85 lakh was provided to 11 NGOs of the region in the last three years.
The NGOs include three from Assam, three from Manipur, two from Meghalaya, one from Nagaland and two based in Delhi.
The report further stated that 11378.88 km long roads in the north eastern region including 1280.77 km in Manipur have been constructed/upgraded/rehabilitated under the schemes of NEC & NERSDS since the inception of NEC.
