Cycle rally marks Day-2 of orange festival

Tamenglong, December 18 2022:
Cycle rally was carried out on Sunday, the second day of the 17th State Level Orange festival currently underway at Tamenglong district headquarters.
Organised by Manipur Adventure & Mountain Biking Association, the cycle rally was flagged off by Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung Panmei in the presence of Tamenglong deputy commissioner Pawan Yadav and other dignitaries.
Meanwhile, the afternoon session of the festival was held with MLA Janghemlung, additional magistrate Thangboi Gangte and district agriculture and horticulture officer Chungong Pamei as chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
A one-day seminar organised by district officer of Horticulture and Soil Conservation in collaboration with Tamenglong district administration was also conducted for orange growers under the theme 'Tamenglong orange for sustainable livelihoods' at Indoor Stadium, Tamenglong.
Speaking at the programme, Janghemlung thanked all the orange farmers of Tamenglong and appealed to them to stop planting oranges only for participating in the annual orange festival, but also to aim for bigger and higher quality and quantity.
He further exhorted the farmers to stop depending on others and make orange nursery for themselves, and be sincere in their work and know the responsibility.
The MLA expressed hope that next year's production would increase with good quality as the growers will gain knowledge from the seminar.
Janghemlung Panmei in the presence of officials of the district administration also distributed vegetable seeds and other inputs to select farmers.
In the technical session of the seminar, College of Agriculture, CAU Department of Entomology professor Dr Kh Ibohal Singh, ICAR/KVK, Tamenglong subject matter specialist (horticulture) Dr RK Roshan, College of Agriculture's horticulture assistant professor Dr S Romen Singh and Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation officer In-charge (plant health clinic) Dr Roshan Dangmei spoke as resource persons.
