Multilingualism will promote unity in the State, says Prof W Chandbabu

Professor W Chandbabu, Registrar, Manipur University has categorically stated that knowing many languages will promote the sense of belongingness, unity in diversity and integration of the State.
He made the statement during the Fresher's Meet 2022 of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Science held at Utlou, Bishnupur district today.
Prof W Chandbabu continued that the establishment of Higher Education Commission of India will play a vital role in improving the education system of the country.
"Many transformations have also been made in Manipur University since 2021 to improve the education system" said the Registrar while adding that the new curriculum of NEP 2020 has been implemented in the affiliated colleges from the academic session 2022-23 .
Elaborating on the implementation of a new credit system and value added courses, he expressed hope that the introduction of Foreign Language course in Manipur University will provide new knowledge, opportunities and experiences to the students.
Stressing on the need to promote indigenous languages and multilingualism, Prof W Chandbabu said, "By speaking several languages, we come to recognise cultural nuances and appreciate things which sometimes go unnoticed.
Multilingualism can play a key role in intercultural dialogue, creating more cohesiveness, reducing the communal divide and promoting unity in diversity" .
He further expressed hope that Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Science will continue the good work to bring change and provide quality education to the students.
Cultural performances by students and musical nite were the main highlights of the event.
The programme was attended by W Chandbabu; Th Chaoba, former Union Minister & chairman Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Science; and RK Imotomba, director Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Science as presidium members.
