Lamdaibung Women Welfare Association has demanded immediate withdrawal of the Suspension of Operation (SoO) Agreement with KNO/KNA and UPF/ZRA/ZRO.
Concurring with the recent statement made by the People's Alliance for Peace and Progress, Manipur (PAPPM) with regards to the abrogation of the SoO Agreement, a press release issued by Lamdaibung Women Welfare Association has called for the withdrawal of the SoO Agreement, the dismantling of their designated camps across various districts along with the resolve to lend support to PAPPM in their future endeavors in this connection.
The statement also highlighted the foreign origin of the leaders of these insurgent groups and accused them of being involved in large scale poppy cultivation and manufacture of drugs.
Further, the statement accused these groups of illegally bringing in Myanmarese Nationals and settling them in the hill areas.
Lamdaibung Women Welfare Association stated that all these issues pose a threat to the national and State security aside from causing tension between different communities residing in the State.
As such, the statement urged both the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to withdraw the SoO Agreement.
