Imphal, July 16 2012:
Even as the State Legislative Assembly had passed a private member resolution to implement Inner Line Permit System in the State on July 13 last, Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILP) has reiterated its stand to continue its campaign on the issue until the Centre complies with the resolution passed here.
Referring to a statement issued by an armed group, JCILP, in a press release, said that there is no question of taking respite from the movement launched by the committee until ILP is fully implemented.
The press release added that it was unfortunate to entertain the thought that the JCILP would become quiet after the private member resolution was passed by the State Assembly.
Expressing such unnecessary concerns would give negative impression to the general public regarding the movement, it added.
JCILP also urged the outfit not to make such remarks which may confuse the people of the State.
As far as the movement spearheaded by the committee is concerned, the press release said, JCILP would implement ILPS on its own if the Government fails to do the same by November 18 .
The committee would organise a joint meeting of scholars and lawyers on the extension of Bengal Eastern Frontier regulation 1873 at 8 am on July 22, it added.
