The 7th Manipuri Students' Convention 2012 was kicked off today at Imphal college with Manipur University.
Students' Welfare Dean Prof Th Ratankumar, Imphal College Principal Dr RC Hamom and MSF president Ng Milan as presidium members.
Addressing the convention which is being organised by the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF), Prof Th Ratankumar said that the existing academic atmosphere of Manipur is not satisfactory.
This is a cumulative result of all the irregularities and discrepancies which marred the education system for the past many decades.
Under such circumstances, student organisations of the State need to unite together and work collectively to rectify the flawed education system, Ratankumar said.
While learning students should be both bold and laborious and they should be very judicious in terms of using time.
Any person who grew up as a good student can certainly contribute something for the society, he asserted.
There should be no place for corruption in the life of a student.
It would be a tragedy if the political leaders commit the blunder of corrupting the education system, he warned.
RC Hamom highlighted the need to make the academic situation of Manipur more competitive.
Stating that youth constitute a formidable force, RC Hamom asserted that it lies in the hands of the youth to establish a prosperous society in Manipur.
The opening day of the convention which would conclude tomorrow also featured a discussion session for students and a special class.
