Imphal, July 16 2012:
The Naga Women's Union (NWU) and Rongmei Luh Phuam (RLP) on Monday have demanded justice for gang rape case of *** at the earliest, saying justice delayed is justice denied.
NWU and RLP in a joint statement said that though the rape case of *** was registered with the Bishnupur Police Station on March 22 last, no action has been taken up until now and it is a shame and embarrassment to the women community.
It blamed the state government of Manipur for not doing anything to punish the rapists and armed gang looters even though more than three months have gone since the incident, warning that the women organizations are prepared to take up intense agitation against the sluggish pace in deliverance of justice.
Urging that the accused in the gang rape case should not be given bail, the statement said a copy of the forensic report on the rape case should be provided to the victim and also another copy of the nature of suspension of the culprits from service.
