Abducted Irabanta still traceless, stir in the offing

Even after 50 days of Irungbam Irabanta's abduction by suspected cadres of NSCN-IM from Ukhrul area, his whereabouts remains unknown till date and there is likelihood of public agitation with various CSOs demanding release of the abducted contractor.
Speaking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Irungbam Ongbi Modhubala, w/o Irabanta said that her husband has been taking up small contract works and living a peaceful life.
He uses to supply sand and stone chips for construction of Maphou Dam.
As some problems crept up in his work he went to Ukhrul on May 27 to meet the cadres of NSCN-IM to negotiate with them after one Winer of Ukhrul contacted him over the phone.
Modhubala informed that she has received reports that her husband had met some cadres of NSCN-IM along with Winer.
Family members also had telephonic contact with Irabanta till May 28.But after that no further contact could be established with her husband and Winer refused to pick up phone.
A complaint has been registered with the Lamlai Police station for the abduction, Modhubala said, while appealing to all concerned to release her husband safely on humanitarian ground.
Meanwhile, a public meeting has been convened at Nongada tomorrow to discuss issues related to abduction of Irabanta.
To be attended by representatives of various Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) of the state, the meeting is expected to adopt various resolutions including launching all sorts of agitations to secure safe release of Irabanta.
