Contact programme for Talented Boys School Students

With an object to give students an exposure to the exciting world of science and motivate them to take up science as a career, a five-day Contact Programme for Talented Boys School Students was inaugurated today at the Training Hall of Art and Culture Building, Palace Compound.
The contact programme, organised Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) and catalysed and supported by NCSTC, Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India, was attended by 44 students from 11 schools.
The participants would interact with officials of various institutes and laboratories including DOEAAC Centre, KVK and Centre for Orchid Gene Conservation of Eastern Himalayan Region of Region of FEEDS, Hengbung; Physics Laboratory, Chemistry Laboratory, Earth Science Laboratory of Manipur University; Seismic Observatory; IBSD, Govt of India; Anatomy and Physiology Laboratory of JNIMS; and Manipur Science Aquarium and EduSat Centre.
Apart from visiting laboratories, popular science talk on various disciplines including medical sciences, science elocution, face to face with distinguished scientists, hands on practical are said to be the activities to be taken out by the participants during the programme.
The inaugural function of the programme was attended by LP Gonmei, Principal Secretary (S&T); Prof N Rajmuhon of Chemistry department, MU and Th Surendranath, Director, MASTEC as the chief guest, guest of honour and president respectively.
