MASTEC's contact prog for Talented Boys begins

With 44 students from 11 different schools taking part, the contact programme for Talented Boys/School Students being conducted by Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) was inaugurated from today at the Training Hall of Art and Culture Building, Palace Compound here.
During the course of the Contact programme, the students would be given the chance to visit various places connected with Science and Technology, like DOEAAC Centre, Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Centre for Orchid Gene Conservation of Eastern Himalaya Region of FEEDS, different Science Labs of MU, Seismic Observatory, IBSD, Government of India, Manipur Science Aquarium and Edu Sat Centre, etc.
The inaugural function was graced by LP Gonmei, Principal Secretary of Science and Technology, Government of Manipur; Th Surendranath, Director of MASTEC and Prof N Rajmuhon as Chief Guest, President and Guest of Honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, LP Golmei stressed on the need to give proper guidance to students in whichever field they wish to make a career and said that parents should not force their children to take up study of subjects in which they themselves (parents) are interested.
He further stated that the Contact programme is primarily meant to give students the chance to chalk out their own line of career.
This will also enable them to choose their respective fields and proceed further accordingly.
Delivering the Presidential speech, Th Surendranath said that 44 students from 11 different schools are participating in the Contact programme.
The Schools are Mother Pride Academy, Bishnupur; Don Bosco High School, Phayeng; Khurkhul Standard English School; Brighter Academy, Imphal East, Sangai Higher Secondary School, Mantripukhri; Manipur Public School Koirengei, Wangkhei Government High School, Universal Students Academy; Mega Manipur School; Keishamthong Government High School and Don Bosco, Langjing.
He further said that the main objective of the Contact programme is to give an exposure to the students to the exciting world of Science and to motivate them to take up Science as a career.
