Protest held over bomb threat at at Hiangtam Lamka

Staffs of DRDA Churachandpur today organized a sit-in-protest over the planting of a hand grenade, early Sunday, at the residential gate of their Executive Director C Hangshing located at Hiangtam Lamka.
"We have organize a sit-in to protest the planting of bomb at the ED's residence and for want of a congenial atmosphere in the DRDA's functioning," said Hehem Haokip president of the DRDA employees association.
The protesting staffs have appealed to the concern armed outfit to withdraw the monetary demand made to the DRDA as well as the threat that persists over the smooth functioning of the agency.
Claiming that the DRDA was merely an agency implementing various flagship programmes of the government and has no capacity to settle hefty monetary demands on their own, the protesting staffs have pleaded for a secure environment so as to ensure that the developmental scheme reaches the masses without delay.
'Be it the armed outfits, the government or the general public we need a congenial atmosphere to effectively deliver our duty � so we appeal you all to ensure such an environment for the sake of development,' said Haokip.
The armed group Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF) has demanded Rs 40 lakhs from the DRDA as a donation for 2012 and has subsequently planted a hand-grenade at the gate of Hangshing early Sunday with a paper containing the words 'Warning KNLF/MPLA' attached to it.
Meanwhile, CDSU has also strongly condemned the plating of bomb at the gate of one of the most respected officers of the district, C Hangshing.
