Senapati, June 14 2026:
The Mao Council and the Mao Naga Women Welfare Association (MNWWA), have strongly condemned the killing of six Naga men, describing the incident as a heinous and inhumane crime, and demanded immediate action against those responsible.
In a joint statement issued by the Information and Publicity Cell of the Mao Council, the organisations expressed deep shock and anguish over the alleged brutal killing, stating that the mutilated and dismembered remains of the victims recovered after 28 days of uncertainty reflected an act that has no place in a civilised or Christian society.
The statement further said that such actions were beyond human ethics and culture and must be dealt with under the strictest provisions of law.
It also noted that while 14 Kuki detainees were released on June 9 as a humanitarian gesture and were reportedly treated with care and dignity during their detention, the killings of the six Naga men represented a grave injustice that must not go unpunished.
The Mao Council and MNWWA urged the competent authorities to immediately identify the perpetrators, arrest them without delay, and ensure exemplary punishment.
They cautioned that any delay or failure in delivering justice would undermine public confidence in the rule of law and deepen the suffering of the bereaved families.
Meanwhile, the Luangdimai Theological Forum (LTF) also strongly condemned what it termed the "brutal and inhuman killing" of six innocent Naga men, alleging involvement of both civilians and armed militants in capturing them.
The LTF stated that the act, which involved torture and dismemberment of the victims, reflected complete disregard for human dignity and Christian values.
It expressed deep grief and solidarity with the bereaved families, stating that it was left speechless by the brutality of the crime.
The forum further called for an immediate, impartial and transparent investigation into the incident and urged authorities to ensure that those responsible are identified, apprehended and brought to justice without delay.
