E-Autos rally gives more push to call for NRC

Bishnupur, August 26 2026: Around 800 E-Autos vehicles carried out at a massive rally at Moirang reinforcing public demand for NRC prior to census 2027 .

The rally started from Moirang Chengei Lampak and proceeded toward Phubala, Khudekpi, Sendra, Thoya Leikai, Turenbal Leikai and concluded at the starting point.

The rally was jointly organised by the Kege Moirang Kendra Apunba Lup (KEMKAL), Moirang Apunba Meira Paibi Ima Lup (MAMPIL), All Moirang CD Block E-Rickshaw Co-Operative Society Ltd and All Moirang E-Rickshaw MMC .

A driver taking part in the rally said that the rally was organised in support of the Campaign for Just and Fair Delimitation (JFD) which is spearheading the NRC movement.

Reiterating JFD's demand, the driver said that the Government must cease all census 2027 related exercises and take immediate steps to update the National Register of Citizens to detect and identify foreigners illegally settling in Manipur. The NRC, the driver said, is a tool that will help protect and secure the future of the indigenous communities and the State.

Conducting census exercises prior to NRC would bring demographic imbalance, and ultimately hurt the State's and indigenous communities' interests, the driver added.

The drivers' community and the organisations fully support JFD's public movement, and oppose all census related exercises until NRC is updated for Manipur, the driver added.
