SP to push Centre on Manipur crisis: Bishorjit

Imphal, August 26 2026: Samajwadi Party, Manipur State president Konthoujam Bishorjit said party National president Akhilesh Yadav has assured support to restore peace in Manipur.

Bishorjit and party general secretary Ranjan met Akhilesh Yadav at the party head office in Lucknow on August 20 .

Speaking to media persons on his return at Imphal Airport on Tuesday,.

Bishorjit said they submitted a memorandum to Akhilesh Yadav highlighting that census should not be conducted in Manipur without NRC .

Bishorjit said Akhilesh Yadav assured that he will urge Union Ministers to intervene and resolve the present issues in Manipur and will also raise the issue of poor condition of National Highways in the State.

He said they also discussed fielding candidates in the 2027 Assembly elections, with Akhilesh Yadav advising them to start preparations to form a Samajwadi Party Government in the State.

Akhilesh Yadav and party MPs will visit Manipur to take stock of the situation, he added.
