Imphal, August 26 2026:
The Good Governance Party (GGP) has urged State legislators to adopt a resolution to conduct the National Register of Citizens (NRC) exercise before the census in the ensuing Assembly session, scheduled to begin on September 2 .
Addressing the media at the Manipur Press Club today, GGP vice-president Phijam Brojen also urged the Government to take concrete measures to resettle internally displaced persons (IDPs) ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
"Do not ignore the plight of the IDPs by focusing solely on the elections," he appealed to the elected representatives.
He further urged all MLAs to assure the people that they would support and pass a resolution in the Assembly backing the conduct of the NRC exercise in Manipur.
Brojen also asserted that not an inch of Manipur's territory should be ceded to Myanmar.
