Imphal, June 14 2026:
A team of the Peace Committee Kangleipak (PCK) went to Makhan, Kangpokpi district and presented relief materials to the IDPs taking shelter there.
The PCK team led by its advisor and former UNLF Chairman RK Sanayaima alias Meghen and president Khumukcham Rajen presented mattresses, blankets and edible items to the IDPs.
Speaking to media persons there, RK Sanayaima said that the primary duty of any Government is to protect its citizens.
However, the incumbent Government has failed miserably to fulfil its responsibility of protecting life and property pf citizens, he said.
RK Sanayaima also asked if the Government has decided to let the civilians kill each other.
As the Government is not protecting the people, each and every individual needs to learn self-defence tactics, the former UNLF Chairman asserted, Makhan village leaders said that around 158 women and children from different villages including Konsakhul have been taking shelter at Makhan following the abduction of six Naga men from Leilon Vaiphei village who were subsequently murdered in the most barbarous manner.
The IDPs taking shelter at Makhan include around 70 students and they have not received any aid from the Government except 20 bags of rice, they said.
The Makhan village leaders said that they were able to run the relief camp only because of the help extended by CSOs and people from both the valley and hills.
