Candlelight vigils remember 6 Naga victims

Imphal, June 14 2026:
A massive candlelight vigil at New Checkon Tribal Market today remembered the six Naga men, who were brutally murdered after their abduction from Leilon Vaiphei village.
The "Naga Gen Z candlelight" showed solidarity with the bereaved families, and demanded justice for the six victims.
During the demonstration, Ashang Kasar, convenor of Native People's Committee, said the people will never cease to demand justice for the six Naga until it is delivered.
The indigenous communities of the must remain vigil and united against forces trying to divide them, he added.
The Manipur Baptist Convention too remembered the six Naga men in a vigil held at its premises at Chingmeirong.
MBC general secretary Rev Dr Jolly Rimai said the Church body condemns the brutal killing of the six, including two Pators by Kuki militants.
The perpetrators of the heinous crime must be arrested and punished according to the law of the land.
Rev Dr Jolly Rimai said.
Failure to punish the culprits may escalate tension, he added.
The Steering Committee Khoupum Area Village Volunteers (SCKAVV), a conglomerate of Khoupum Area Villages Authority Council (KAVAC), Rongmei Luh Phwam Khoupum Area (RLPKA), Zeliangrong Students' Union Khoupum Area (ZSUKA) Zeliangrong Union Khoupum Zone (ZUKZ) & Rongmei Naga Council Manipur Khoupum Luangrian (RNCMKL) .
also organised a candlelight vigil today at around 6 pm at Haipou Jadonang memorial site in Khoupum valley, Nbney district.
The demonstrators marched from Khoupum Bazar to the Haipou Jadonang memorial site, demanding justice for the six Naga men.
