Imphal, June 14 2026:
On "Protest Day Against the Divisive Policy of Government of India" today, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has reiterated its call on all communities to collectively face forces that seek to disintegrate and divide Manipur.
The indigenous communities and all the people of Manipur must collectively face both internal and external forces which seek to disintegrate and divide Manipur, said Pratap Leishangthem, AMUCO's general secretary in a statement The current crises facing Manipur are a creation of the Government of India, he alleged.
For 77 years under India, Manipur has faced threats to its territorial boundary, infiltration of illegal immigrants and population invasion, he said.
The Government of India's divisive policies, ethnic polarisation and communal politics have undermined Manipur's territorial integrity and plunged the State into a vicious cycle of conflict among brotherly communities, Pratap said.
A reorganisation of Manipur's territorial boundary will bring the end of every community.
There will no longer be any cohesiveness and it will be the end of the indigenous communities, he said.
To resolve the problems it has created, the Government of India must shed its divisive policies and change its attitude towards the State of Manipur.
The Government of India must bring about a political solution to the India-Manipur crisis, Pratap said.
To restore normalcy and peace, the Government of India must work with sincerity to root out illegal immigrants, he said.
The National Register of Citizens (NRC) must be updated first and census operations must be conducted later.
Further, the Government of India must remove its security forces which have acted "biasedly" and "fuelled" conflict among communities, he added.
The "Protest Day Against the Divisive Policy of Government of India" remembers people's uprising against the Bangkok Declaration of June 14, 2001, signed between the Government of India and NSCN-IM, which declared a "ceasefire without extension without territorial limit" .
