Bishnupur, June 14 2026:
Around 600 children, including children from 12 relief camps of Bishnupur district, Child Centres, Glory Children Home and a specialised adoption centre, participated in an educational excursion programme that was flagged off on Saturday at Thamnapokpi Keithel.
The excursion rally was jointly organised by the Ajim Premji Foundation and New Life Foundation, Manipur, with support from the District Administration Bishnupur, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR), Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Bishnupur and the District Child Protection Office (DCPO), Bishnupur.
The flagging-off ceremony was attended by Pooja Elangbam and Keisham Pradipkumar, along with Rebati Raman and Chongtham Indrani.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam lauded the initiative, stating that exposure tours for internally displaced children are highly beneficial.
She noted that such programmes, which include visits to natural environments and historical sites, help broaden children's knowledge and bring them joy, while also contributing positively to their mental wellbeing and learning capacity.
Keisham Pradipkumar also appreciated the initiative, observing that children residing in relief camps for nearly three years have been facing mental stress and difficulties in concentrating on studies.
He expressed hope that such exposure tours would provide emotional relief, renewed hope and a positive shift in their outlook towards life.
