Imphal, May 29 2023:
In the wake of the relentless attack on Meitei villages by Kuki militants, Thangmeiband AC MLA Kh Joykisan has returned all the security personnel allotted to him as personal escorts.
Saying that protecting people's lives and properties is more important than his personal safety, Joykisan saw off all his house guards and other police personnel from his home to the police headquarters today.
Joykisan returned his security guards so that they may be deployed for protection of people's lives and properties.
Later speaking to media persons, Joykisan claimed that both the State Government and the Central Government have been working very hard to contain the ethnic violence and restore normalcy in the State.
"The position of MLA does not matter if the integrity of Manipur is threatened.
Together with the people, I'll fight all challenges to the integrity of Manipur", Joykisan said.
He then appealed to all the people not to pose any hurdle to the movement of Central paramilitary forces.
The MLA further appealed to all the people not to create disturbances or unrest in Imphal valley so that maximum security forces can be deployed at peripheral areas which are being attacked repeatedly by Kuki militants.
He exuded confidence that Union Home Minister Amit Shah would take up necessary measures to protect the integrity of Manipur and the sanctity of its territorial boundary.
Meanwhile, Wangoi AC MLA Khuraijam Loken has vowed that he would fight in the forefront if the Government of India takes up any step which may pave way for disintegration of Manipur.
A large number of people today marched to the Yumnam Huidrom residence of MLA Kh Loken today.
They shouted slogans like, "We reject Kuki MLAs' demand for separate administration", "Implement NRC in Manipur", "Restore peace and communal harmony", "Abrogate SoO with Kuki militants", "Protect indigenous people of Manipur", "Lone Live Manipur", "Protect reserved forests", "Stop poppy cultivation" etc.
They also submitted a memorandum to the MLA.
After accepting the memorandum, Loken pledged that he would work in accordance with the pulse and aspirations of the masses.
