Committees formed to bring peace, normalcy, save state

Demanding strict action against the 10 MLAs who are scheming to bal-kanise the state, Jiribam MLA Md Ashab Uddin has said that Peace Committee Jiribam formed in the wake of communal violence has been shouldering its re-sponsibility to bring back peace and normalcy in the district and state.
Addressing media per-sons at his Sonapur resi-dence on Monday, Ashab Uddin said he held talks with leaders of civil society organisations of different communities of Jiribam at the SP's office on May 4 and ; formed a Peace Commit-tee to maintain harmonise ; co-existence in the district after eruption of commu-nal violence on May 3.The committee has been extending help to people staying in different places in the district and at Cachar area in neighbouring Assam state.
The committee has been organising public meet at different places every day and as such there has been no unwanted incident in the district so far, he said.
Responding to a query, the MLA asserted territo-rial integrity of Manipur cannot be distorted at all
and demanded strict ac-tion against 10 MLAs who attempt to break apart Ma-nipur.
Meanwhile, nine villages of Bishnupur district formed a Peace Committee to pre-vent unwanted incident after a public meet held at ECHO Club community hall at Bishnupur Thiyam Leikai.
According to Committee secretary L Debchan, it was formed to identify role of the people in the ongoing violence after threadbare discussions and how to de-fend from Kuki militants' onslaught against innocent civilians in peripheral areas of Manipur valley.
