Imphal, May 29 2023:
The All Manipur Muslim Organisations' Coordinating Committee (AMMOCOC) has prepared a memorandum to be submitted to Union Home Minister Amit Shah when he visits Manipur, said its president SM Jalal today.
Addressing media persons during a press meet called by several Muslim CSOs at the office of AMMOCOC at Hapta, Jalal said the memorandum demands the Centre to assure and protect the State's integrity and end the present conflict between the Meiteis and the Kukis.
He said the violence that first erupted on May 3 during ATSUM's Solidarity Rally has seen no end till today even after more than 24 days and deployment of companies of Central Security Forces.
He expressed concern and disappointment with the Centre for its step-motherly treatment towards the people of Manipur and said there is apprehension that the conflict may last long without decisive intervention of the Centre.
Jalal said the Muslim civil bodies have prepared a memorandum to be submitted to Amit Shah when he visits Manipur.
He said the memorandum seeks the attention of the Union Home Minister and the Centre to take up concerted efforts and steps to end the conflict immediately and restore peace and normalcy.
The memorandum demands protection of the State's territorial integrity and minority communities.
In case the Centre takes a decision that threatens the State's integrity, all Muslim people and organisations will launch stringent democratic agitations, he added.
Meanwhile, sit-in protest demonstrations and rallies will be organised in all Muslim areas demanding peace, however, the people of the community will not be taking part in any form of violent activities, Jalal said.
It may be noted here that many other organisations have prepared memoranda to be submitted to Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his stay in Manipur.
Amit Shah is likely to held several meetings with all stakeholders on the present issue.
