Imphal, May 29 2023:
Manipur State Council Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) has stated that the opinion of the public should be accorded importance to prevent Manipur turning into a battlefield.
In a release, MSC /CPI opined that acts of terrorism by the Chin-Kuki militants rendering many innocent citizens homeless, destroy-ing properties and killing the civilians make it crystal clear that their ferocious acts are execution of well-planned separatist movement.
Peo-ple of Manipur comprising various ethnic groups should fight against such terrorist elements scheming to disin-tegrate the state, the release said, while reminding all concerned "If we are united no outsider will dare to chal-lenge unity and integrity of Manipur.
Meanwhile, Manipur Peo-ple's Party (MPP) said that handing over the responsibil-ity and declaring empower-ment to the state's forces by the chief minster on Sunday is too late too little.
MPP also opined that time-ly intervention by the state forces could have averted the communal violence from spreading.
Addressing media persons at its office near Polo ground here on Monday, MPP vice president (administration) Yengkokpam Priyokumar said that inability of the govern-ment to expedite deployment of state force was the primary reason for the loss of lives and properties.
While pointing out the need to establish a people's army to save the territori-al integrity of Manipur, he declared MPP's firm stand to protect the territorial integri-ty of Manipur and to fiercely stand against any attempt to disintegrate the state.
While expressing that the oath taken by the MLAs to safeguard the state has lost its meaning and credibility, Priyokumar lamented that the communal violence has caused serious damage to the age-old harmonious exis-tence of the different com-munities in the state.
Ten Kuki MLAs have raised the demand for separate admin-istration as the remaining MLAs who exclaimed their love for Manipur are main-taining stoic silence, the vice president said.
