Imphal, May 29 2023:
Former Patsoi AC MLA AK Mirabai has categorically stated that the present situation is not a communal crisis but an open war scripted by armed illegal immigrants and Kuki militants under Suspension of Operation (SoO) .
Adressing media persons at her Taobungkhok residence today, the former Minister asked what was the State Government doing when the militants were waging an open war for almost a month.
Noting that the conflict has consumed immeasurable ammount of properties and lives of many, AK Mirabai also expressed sympathy and extended solidarity to all who have suffered and lost their near and dear ones.
Initially the clash which erupted on May 3 seemed to be a communal clash but later on it has turned out to be an attempt to wipe out innocent and unarmed Meitei people by armed illegal immigrants and militants under the SoO pact.
The agenda is to disintegrate Manipur by driving a wedge between Meiteis, Kuki and other communities who have co-existing peacefully for several decades and carve out a new boundary to expand their agenda, she said while condemning their atrocious activities upon Meiteis residing in the peripheral areas.
The present state of turmoil and tension will only be curbed when the State and the Central Governments teach a befitting lesson to these armed illegal immigrants coming from Myanmar and Kuki militants under SoO who are openly carrying out terror activities.
As such, the State and the Central Government should immediately abrogate the SoO pact with these roque militants, she demanded.
Demanding border fencing on a war footing to stop illegal immigrants, AK Mirabai also demanded NRC be implemented at the earliest to separate the illegal immigrants from the indigenous population and take up necessary steps under established laws and acts.
She then appealed the State Government to chalk out a policy at the earliest to tend to displaced people and ensure peaceful and secured resettlement.
While expressing utmost respect to those who have lost their lives during the violent incidents, Mirabai also assured to contribute her best towards the cause of the people.
