Uikey inspects

Governor Anusuiya Uikey arrived at the border town of Moreh and visited the Integrated Check Post (ICP) today.
The Governor met TA & Hills Minister Letpao Haokip, DC Tengnoupal Yumnam Ranjan, SP Tengnoupal, DFO Tengnoupal, officers of 5 Assam Rifles, BRTF CO, district administration officials and members of several civil society organisations.
The meeting discussed several issues and development projects being taken up in the border town.
The civil society organisations urged the Governor to take steps to resume normal trade between Myanmar and India at the border.
Tribal Affairs Minister Letpao Haokip also stressed the importance of promoting trade and business in the border town and talked about security measures.
The Governor said, she was specifically told by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the border areas personally and enquired about the needs and problems the people are facing.
Anusuiya Uikey said she will apprise the Centre and the State Government on the needs of the people and all issues presented before her.
The Governor also discussed the progress of border fencing.
Later, she visited the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate and Shree Angala Parameshwari Temple and Shree Muneeshwarar Temple.
She also interacted with personnel of the armed forces at 5 Assam Rifles' Chavangphai COB camp.
