Students' career counselling session organised

Samagra Shiksha, Manipur organised a one-day career counselling session for students of class 10 and 12 studying in government schools at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) auditorium, Palace Compound, here, on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, education (s) director Laishram Nandakumar expressed that conduct of such counselling sessions will give immense opportunities to the students.
Out of the total population of the country, 65 per cent is below 35 years, which makes India a country with highest youth population, he said and added that this status will remain so till 2030 .
The director further said that the concept of studying has totally changed today compared to last many years.
Today, most of the opportunities are now at our fingertip due to the advancement in technology and infrastructural improvement.
With the implementation of Act East Policy, the people of the state need to develop themselves and guide the youth to the right direction in order to remain relevant and get a place in this changing job market, he said.
Nandakumar also spoke about the new National Education Policy 2020 under which the curriculum and syllabus will be changed.
Under the policy, students will have to face entrance examinations in order to pursue higher studies after completing class 12 examination, he said.
He then encouraged the students to plan their career choice and work hard to secure a safe future by getting deserving jobs or becoming job providers.
A total of 750 students along with teachers from different government schools participated in the career counselling programme.
Education (S) additional director (valley) Bisheshor Khumukcham also attended the programme while Exemplar Point Limited's Keshav Aggarwal spoke as resource person.
