Imphal, April 25 2023:
Joint Administrative Council of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) & All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) has urged the state government to revise the Dearness Allowance/Dearness Relief (DA/DR) paid to state government employees to 42 per cent of Basic Pay effective from January 1 .
In a memorandum submitted to the chief minister on Tuesday, JAC of AMTUC & AMGEO secretary general Thiyam Momocha pointed out that Finance Department in its order dated October 1, 2021 enhanced the rate of DA/DR payable to state employees/pensioners/family pensioners to 28 per cent of Basic pay with effect from December 1, 2022 .
However, the DA/DR for the state government's employees remained stagnant till date whereas DA/DR paid to central government employees during the same period was 38 per cent of Basic Pay.
Further pointing out that the rate of DA/DR for central employees has again been raised to 42 per cent of Basic Pay with effect from January 1, the memorandum pointed out there is a 14 per cent difference of DA/DR between state and central government employees.
The JAC requested the government to enhance the rate of DA/DR of state government employees/pensioners/family pensioners to 42 per cent of Basic Pay i.e., at par with central government employees effective from January 1, so as to mitigate the financial burden the state employees bear and for increasing the per capita income of the populace in general.
