Three held with arms and ammos

While the situation remains tense in some districts, operation against armed militants and miscreants has been intensified with the arrest of three persons and seizure of a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, said Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh.
Briefing media persons, the Security Advisor to State Government said the situation remained normal in many districts except in few where some violent incidents occured.
But, the situation is under control, he added.
Kuldiep Singh said the Central armed forces, Army, Assam Rifles, CAPF and State Police have intensified operations against armed militants and miscreants.
Yesterday, at around 9.35 pm, a combined team of Manipur Police and 22 Assam Rifles arrested three persons including a village chief and a new recruit of the 10th IRB Battalion and seized huge quantity of arms and ammunition during frisking and checking conducted at Kangchup foothill under Lamsang police station.
The arrested persons have been identified as Thangneimang Khaute Vaiphei (63), son of Late Lanjahao Vaiphei; Lunsiamlen Vaiphei (19), son of Haominthang Vaiphei and Luntinsang Chongloi (33), son of Paokholun Chongloi.
All of them belong to Leilon Pheijang Vaiphei village, Kangpokpi district.
Thangneimang Khaute Vaiphei is chairman/chief of the village and a retired Technical Jugali, PHED while Luntinsang Chongloi is a new recruit, a Rifleman of the 10th IRB Bn.
They were travelling in an Alto Car (silver colour) when they were detained and arrested.
The arms and ammunition seized from their possession include 280 rounds of 12 bore ammunition-Shaktiman; 810 rounds of 12 bore ammunition Agni Shoot; 5 local made grenades; 2 single barrel, 2 double barrel and one folding butt double barrel.
The security personnel also seized Rs 37,650 and the Alto Car.
Today, at around 3 pm, following reliable intelligence inputs, Bishnupur district commando conducted search operations at Thingpui village and recovered one double barrel, 2 single barrel guns, 18 cartridges and 3 Chinese hand grenades.
The seized items have been handed over to Imphal PS.
Kuldiep Singh continued that at around 1.30 am, armed miscreants fired from the hill of Singda Kadangband Part-I and in that one person identified as Aribam Rishikesh Sharma (29), son of (Late) A Bidhu received bullet injuries on his right little finger and right thigh.
While he has been evacuated to RIMS for treatment, BSF and one section of MR have been deployed in the area and they have conducted search operations and dominated the area.
At midnight, armed miscreants came down from the hills towards Molngat foothill/Tronglaobi under Phougakchao Ikhai-PS and burnt down about three houses.
In the aftermath, many houses, belonging to rival communities, abandoned and damaged earlier were burnt and damaged, Kuldiep Singh said.
In another incident, at around 9.30 am, armed militants fired and injured two persons at Thamnapokpi foothill under Moirang PS.
One of the injured persons identified as Toijam Chandramani Singh (40) succumbed to his injury at ASIAN Hospital Kwakeithel.
Toijam Chandramani hailed from Churachandpur Thengra Leirak and he was staying at a relief camp in Moirang.
Kuldiep Singh further stated that following the incident, a large number of persons created law and situation and two additional Coys of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and other forces were rushed to the spot to control the situation.
On the situation along National Highway, Kuldiep Singh said movement of essential items along NH-37 has been ensured.
Today at around 6.30 am, 160 loaded vehicles (LPG bullet-2, Petrol-24, Diesel-41, Cement-41, Transport Good-88 and Fertilizer-1) left Jiribam for Imphal.
In the morning, 205 vehicles (empty truck-99, loaded truck-3, Gas cylinder-2, empty LPG Bullet-24, empty oil tanker-67, cruiser-6, bus-3, Sumo-1) left Imphal for Jiribam, he added.
