Imphal, May 24 2023:
Expressing deep con cern over the prevailing situa-tion in the state since outbreak of the communal violence on May 3, the Peoples' Action for National Democratic Movement (PANDM) said the state govern-ment must wake up from its slumber and take up necessary action promptly for return of peace and normalcy.
In a statement, PANDM said large numbers of central security forces have been de-ployed since the eruption of communal violence between the Meetei and Kuki but there seems to be no change as Kuki militants continue to attack and torch Meetei villages.
Instead of providing security to innocent civilians, central forces kept watching when Kuki militants attack and torch Meetei villages right under their nose, PANDM alleged and asked ifcentral forc-es are being deployed to protect civilians or aid Kuki militants.
While contending that there is no sign of state government at present, PANDM said nei-ther the state assembly nor the speaker could take any action against the 10 Kuki MLAs who demanded separate adminis-tration, which indeed is akin to waging war against the state.
It also said that there is no use of banning intemet for the past 20 days as the Kukis are spread-ing false propaganda every day through the national media.
Though the false propaganda being spread by Kaki is being clarified by some people at the individual level, people outside Manipur construe the propa-ganda as true due to silence of the state government against such false narrative.
The PANDM then warned government to bring an early resolution to the present crisis before eruption of a civil war.
