Moreh, May 24 2023:
State police commandos posted in Moreh are likely to leave their posting very soon in case the State Government does not send additional State forces within two-three days time.
Even as the commandos are sharing responsibility of the protecting properties in the border town with other Central armed personnel, Meitei houses in Heinou Makhong neighbourhood in Moreh Ward No 7 were reportedly looted by some miscreants of a community.
Following the incident, security has been beefed up in Moreh and curfew relaxation has been dashed.
Meitei residents of Moreh who are now taking shelters at various relief camps, in the meantime drew attention of the State Government to provide adequate security measures to ensure their rehabilitation in Moreh.
Manipur may be reduced to ashes soon if the State Government keeps waiting for Centre's node for everything, they said while urging the State Government to be very decisive at this crucial juncture.
They also reminded the State Government of the June 18 incident of 2001 .
Alleging that AR personnel posted in Moreh are only for Kuki community and its militants, they also maintained that the situation could have been averted had the AR acted without partiality.
They also feared that State police commandos posted in Moreh may leave their post in case no additional State forces are dispatched to reinforce them.
In case they too leave their post, whatever left for Meiteis in Moreh will all be gone and turned to ashes, they said.
While issuing a wake up call to the State Government, they said that there is no time to stick to their posts as it may get too late when they start acting.
