Society for forming all-community body

Expressing the urgent need for having an autonomous body to deal with the conflict situation in a multi-ethnic state like Manipur, Manipur Muslim (Pangal) Historical Society drew attention of the authorities con-cerned to work in the model of the Manipur State Commission for Peace and Harmony which may beset up on pilot basis con-sisting of members nominated from amongst the various ethnic communities with at least one member each from the Meitei, Naga, Kuki and Pangal corn-In a release, the Society in-formed that its annual gathering was conducted on Wednesday and deliberated on various mechanisms that may be im-plemented for restoration of normalcy in the state.
The Society reiterated that various ethnic communities had been contributing to the beau-tiful mosaic of Manipuri culture since time immemorial with the people co-existing peacefully as an integral part of the erstwhile kingdom.
The Society appealed to all the communities to main-tain the peaceful co-existence that has been flourishing.
