COCOMI, TPO appeal against disinformation

Imphal, May 24 2023:
Coordinating Com-mittee on Manipur Integri-ty (COCOMI) and Tangkhul People's Organisation ap-pealed to all concerned to abstain from involvement in any form of spreading fake news and disinformation campaign amid the volatile situation in the state.
Addressing a joint press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Wednesday, COCOMI coordinator Jeetendra Nin-gomba said that the incident at Kwakeithel involving some Tangkhul women occurred out of communication gap in the heat of the moment when a gunshot victim died at Asian Hospital.
News Por-tal EastMojo published a false report on the incident with-out verifying facts.

While apologising on behalf of the public for the unfortunate incident, he said that the relation between Tangkhul and Meetei are as good as before.
Tangkhul People's Or-ganisation president John Ralenga said that they have talked with UNC leaders and confirmed that the incident occurred out of communica-tion gap and misunderstand-ing.
It was not a deliberate act, he said while urging all concerned to stop spreading unverified reports.
He fur-ther said that the incident will have no effect to the re-lationship between Tangkhul and Meetei.
