Ministers /MLAs in Guwahati to meet Shah

Imphal, May 24 2023:
To meet Union home min-ister Amit Shah and apprise him about the present volatile situa-tion in the state, some ruling party MLAs dashed to the Assam capital Guwahati in different flights in-cluding chartered ones.
Amit Shah is scheduled to lay foundation stone for National Fo-rensic Science University at Guwa-hati on Thursday and will also hand over appointment letters to 45,000 newly recruited candidates in dif-ferent Assam state government departments.
Taking advantage of the event, some ministers and MLAs of the state rushed to Gu-wahati to meet the visiting Union home minister and discuss with him the present situation.
The first to leave for Guwahati included speaker Th Satyabrata and Keirao MLA L Rameshwar as they boarded a Guwahati -bound flight at 4.30pm Wednesday.
At about 10.30pm, a chartered flight left Imphal international airport carrying ministers Dr Sapam Ranjan, Awangbow Newmai and Heikham Dingo as well as MLAs Kh Joykisan, K Leishiyo, Kh Loken, Sapam Kunjakeshore, Th Shan - ti, RK Imo, Usham Deben and Th Arunkumar.
They will be joined by Mayang Imphal MLA K Robin - dro, who is already in Guwahati.
Works minister K Govindas could not make the trip after his house at Ningthoukhong was vandalised by an enraged mob on Wednesday after eruption of fresh violence in Bishnupur district.
Meanwhile, a source informed that the team of ministers /MLAs will seek a clear-cut intervention of the Centre on the continuing communal violence during the meeting with Amit Shah and has sought appointment for the same.
However, there is no confirmation as yet from the home ministry.
The team will fly to New Delhi if unable to get appointment at Guwahati.
On the other hand, Andro MLA Th Shyamkumar and Chandel MLA SS Olish too have rushed to New Delhi Wednesday while Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam is sched-uled to fly to national capital on Thursday.
The source also informed that MLA Paonam Brojen too is already in Gu-wahati to join the team anc meet Amit Shah.
Earlier in the day, chie: minister N Biren Singt chaired a meeting of rulinf MLAs after eruption of frest violence in Bishnupur distric and discussed thoroughly on security measures beini taken up to contain violence.
