Importance of police support and cooperation in solving cases by MSCW underscored

Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) Chairperson, Salam Ulka has stated that timely assistance from the police can massively help the Commission in closing cases in a short period of time.
The statement was made at the State-level 'Sensitization of State Women Police Personnel on the role of Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW)' workshop held at the banquet hall of Manipur Rifles today.
Speaking on the occasion, Salam Ulka said that it is the duty of the Commission to bring justice to cases pertaining to crimes against women.
However, in certain instances, the Commission struggles to get information from the police regarding the status report of the case or in filing an FIR.

She added that it is the duty of the police to maintain law and order while the Commission acts as the watchdog concerning crimes committed against women.
Salam Ulka asserted that the workshop was held with the goal of improving the relation between the Commission and the police.
She also highlighted the importance of police support and cooperation in solving the cases taken up by the Commission.
She urged the Police Department to extend their support to the Commission in any way possible and help them in delivering justice to the victims.
The workshop was also attended by MSCW members Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, Lourembam Dayabati, T Chuongsin Koireng and GP (Trg) Mamata Wahengbam as presidium members.
Meanwhile Momota Oinam, former Additional Advocate General and Thiyam Rajkishore, Advocate, Manipur High Court were present as resource persons.
