Kid's park fund withdrawn sans job done: Ex-member

Keishamthong AC Ward no.12 ex-member E Chandikumar has alleged that around Rs 8,92,783 had been withdrawn in the name of constructing a children's park in the ward under AM -RUT scheme, but no work was taken up.
Addressing a press meet held at Manipur Press Club, here, on Friday, Chandikumar stated that the funds for welfare schemes are not meant to fill up the private pockets.
However, around Rs 8,92,783 sanctioned for construction of a children's park in Ward no.12, at Kwakeithel thokchom Leikai to be specific, of IMC under the AM RUT scheme had been withdrawn without executing the work.
In addition, around Rs 9,27,020 was withdrawn under the 15th Finance Commission in the name of constructing a retaining wall around the pond of Nganapithong Mapal as part of a rain water conservation project.
However, the expenses for the said work were paid under the LADF 2008 of ex-MLA of Keishamthong late Laishram Ibomcha.
As such, a total of Rs 18,19,803 had been withdrawn for the two projects under the name of GG Rongmei.
Chandikumar continued that GG Rongmei is not the one executing the project for he only received a commission of 1 per cent.
the one who misappropriated the funds is the sub-contractor, whose identity has also been established by the people of Ward no.12.Thus, he urged the state government to take strict action against the sub contractor and set an example to all others that public funds are not meant for private use.
