Training on Soybean technology conducted

All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) (Soybean), College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal organised a one-day training programme on Improved Soybean Production Technology' at the conference hall of College of Agriculture, here on Friday.
Agriculture director Gojendro Ningthoujam CAU college of Agriculture dean professor Indira Sarangthem and AICRP in-charge professor L Nabachandra attended the programme as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Gojendro Ningthoujam emphasised on the role of agriculture in the development of a nation.
Tne general aspiration for attaining new heights of development would be a tough in a country where there is low food production, he said and termed as fortunate for the state and its farmers to have CAU in Imphal where they can consult anv issues regarding farming.
He also commended the University for conducting researches in producing new varieties of high yielding crops, stating that it will help in achieving self-sufficiency in food production.
Talking of the negative impact of using too much chemical fertilisers without understanding the soil health and nutrient requirement, he said that some farmlands are on the verge of becoming barren due to excessive use of chemical fertilisers.
This is a serious matter and farmers need to reverse this situation for the sake of future.
